Helen Colley Geirin

Helen Colley Geirin, born March 24, 1934, in New Haven, Connecticut, passed away peacefully May 6, 2026 at The Landing of North Haven where she resided for the last few years. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Thomas F. Geirin; her mother, Mary E. Colley and her brother, Lawrence Colley. She is survived by her children Mary (Alex) Philippone of Rochester, New York; Thomas (Maura) Geirin of Hamden, Connecticut; Eileen (Steven) Philippone of Penfield, New York; and Patricia (Scott) Moroz of Hamden, Connecticut. Helen was the cherished grandmother of Michael Philippone (Samantha Oliva), Lisa Philippone (Sarah Alderman), Paul Philippone (Sophia Prasinos), Patrick Geirin (Emily Barlow), Daniel Geirin, Eric Philippone, Joseph Philippone, and Zachary Moroz (Olivia Brayman); and the loving great-grandmother of Brady and Aya Lipinski, and Landen and Alaina Alderman. She was also a loving aunt of Carrie Carbone, David Carbone, and Marissa Colley (Steve McFetridge). In addition, she was predeceased by her nephew Scott Colley, his wife Lucia Colley, her niece Heather Carbone, and lifelong friends Donald and Margaret Sbabo, Bruce and Leona Allen, Frank and Gertrude Walter, Bill and Pat Platt and many other close friends. Helen grew up in East Haven and upon graduating from East Haven High School in 1952, she began a career in business with Prudential Insurance Company. Helen and her husband built their home in Hamden in 1960 where they lived for over 60 years. After she raised her children, she worked for Connecticut Savings Bank retiring in 1993. Together with her husband, they enjoyed many summers in Cape Cod (North Truro), and winters in St. Augustine, Florida, and North Fort Myers, Florida. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers and staff at The Landing of North Haven for the kindness, respect, and dedicated care they provided Helen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on May 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Hamden, followed by burial at St. Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven. Arrangements by Sisk Brothers Funeral Home; there will be no calling hours.
