Dorothy K Lane

Dorothy O’Mara Lane of Orange died on September 6, 2023 in Bridgeport, CT. She was the wife of the late Thomas W. Lane. Born in New Haven, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Daniel J. and Genevieve Leary O’Mara. She graduated from Amity High School and Elmira College, Elmira, NY, with a degree in Elementary Education. She later earned a Masters Degree from Boston University and did further graduate study at Fairfield University. She was an elementary school teacher in Milford, East Haven and Needham, MA and was a former member of both the CT and MA Education Associations. Dorothy was a Life member of the Catholic Charity League. She served on the Orange Charter Revision Committee and was a member of the Amity League of Women Voters. She was actively involved in Orange and Amity PTA and sports activities while her children were in school. She was a parishioner of the Church of the Holy Infant and a member of the parish women’s guild. She is survived by 3 children: Daniel, Katherine and Sarah and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated September 9, 2023, in the Church of the Holy Infant and burial followed at the Orange Cemetery. Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Avenue, Hamden was in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Holy Infant, 450 Race Brook Road, Orange, CT 06477.
