William A. Farrell, age 77, of Hamden, beloved husband of Earlene Farrell entered into rest December 27, 2018. Born on February 20, 1941 in New Haven, CT, he was the son of the late Arthur W. and Mary Corbett Farrell. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, severing his country from June 30, 1958 – 19 February, 1962 and retired from the Southern Connecticut Gas Company after 40 years of dedicated service. He was a life time member of the Hamden Elks Club 2224 and a member of the American Legion Post 88. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by his loving wife Earlene of 47 years, his children: Salvatore DeLucia, Louis DeLucia, William Farrell Jr., James E. Farrell of Hamden, CT, Debra Hescht of Harrisville, WV and Philomena “Mia” DeLucia of Dayton Ohio, brother James Farrell of Meriden, CT, sister-in-law Patricia (Pat) Taddei of Branford, CT, 13 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces/nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Joan Farrell, sister in laws Barbara Farrell, Laurel Blauvelt and a brother in law Roger Blauvelt. He was an avid fisherman; spending many hours at Mill River. His real joy was spending summers at the Saratoga racetrack playing the “Ponies”. He opened his heart and home to his many cherished friendships. A special thank you to the medical staff and technicians for their care and concern expressed during Bill’s illness. Funeral services will be held in Sisk Brothers Funeral Home 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden Thursday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Centerville Cemetery.
