April 20, 1936 - January 15, 2021
Victoria Joan Annette Hoerner Giblin, 84, of Hamden entered into eternal rest with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Friday, January 15th at Apple Rehab of Guilford after silently suffering a courageous battle with chronic memory illness brought upon by a fall. She was the beloved wife of 55 years to the late William J. Giblin, beloved mother of Mary Joy Giblin White (North Haven) who cared for her and advocated for her for years, beloved mother-in-law of Thomas H. White (North Haven) who was like a son to her and who assisted her more times than can be counted and she was the beloved grandmother of James T. White (North Haven) whom she loved dearly and was very proud. Victoria is also survived by family members whom she loved, daughters Susan Consiglio Evens (Chuck) of FL, Veronica Han-G Deakins (Alan) of FL, sons Jude T. Giblin (Neely) of AL, Christopher M. Giblin (Tina) of FL, grandchildren Stephen G. Consiglio, Jr. (Samantha), Michelina, Alexander, Ava, Cecily, soon to be born Fiona Giblin, Kiarra, Maya, Victor, and Joshua Giblin. She is survived by one great-granddaughter. Born April 20, 1936 in New Haven, Victoria was the daughter of the late Victor A. and Helena Mickowski Hoerner. She attended St. Francis School and Sacred Heart Academy. While in SHA, her father passed suddenly causing Victoria to have to work after school to help her mother. She attended New Haven College but had to leave to work full-time to assist her mother. It was there at the Knights of Columbus where Victoria and Bill met where he famously stated the moment he saw her, “I’m going to marry that girl!” Victoria ran a daycare out of her home for many years. In addition, she worked other jobs such as a telephone solicitor for companies including SideTex thus enabling her to help her family. Victoria advocated for the unborn and was a past volunteer at BirthRight. She and Bill adopted three children, were foster parents, and they took in dogs who needed homes. They supported both the Church of St. Rita and the Church of St. Mary. Victoria was a strict and devout Catholic who loved and prayed unceasingly for her family, friends, people she knew, the Souls in Purgatory, the Sick, the Dying, and for the Conversion of All Sinners. She participated in Prayer Chains and was a Prayer Partner. She loved and was devoted to the Blessed Mother. Victoria was a true Prayer Warrior who all her life prayed the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet daily as well as many other prayers. She attended daily mass, lead the Rosary prior, was a lector, went to Confession monthly and prayed many Novenas. In addition to tithing, for decades Victoria donated thousands and thousands of dollars to charities. Victoria said, “I forgive all the people who made fun of me because of my being so religious.” Victoria asks all to go to Church weekly, go to Confession monthly, pray the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet daily, keep the Commandments, donate to charity, and offer up sufferings and prayers for the Souls in Purgatory who are helpless and need us to pray them out. Victoria’s family would like to thank the staff at Apple Rehab of Guilford for the loving care given to her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning, January 23rd at 10:00 in Divine Mercy Parish St. Rita Church, Hamden. Burial to follow in All Saints Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Food for the Poor 6401 Lions Road, Coconut Creek, FL 33073. Arrangements are with Sisk Brothers Funeral Home 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden. www.siskbrothers.com.
