Rose Elizabeth Benedetto, 90, of Hamden, passed away December 28, 2016 with her family by her side. Rose was born May 21, 1926 in New Haven, Connecticut to the late James and Ann Esposito and is predeceased by her brothers Charles and Marco. She graduated from New Haven High School in 1943 and on September 20, 1948 she married her beloved husband Michael Benedetto who predeceased her. Prior to retirement, she worked for Southern Connecticut State University. Rose was an active member of Blessed Sacrament and Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She enjoyed cooking, bingo and trips to the casino. Her warm smile and kind heart made her loved by all. Rose was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her daughters Joanne (John) Manacek and Carol (John) Vagnini; her granddaughters Kimberly (Matthew) Baldoni, Stacy (Brian) Burdo and Paige Manacek; and her great granddaughters Riley and Peyton Baldoni. The family wants to thank the staff at Atria Larson Place, Shady Knoll Health Center and CT Hospice of Shelton for their care and compassion. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Burial in Saint Lawrence Cemetery.
