November 25, 1939 - March 2, 2021
Grace Siladi Carroll, loving daughter of Wanda A. Salata and Michael F. Salata of Stamford, CT. born 25 November 1939. She is survived by her brother, Michael Salata Jr. of Danbury, her son Mark Siladi of Auckland, New Zealand, her grand-daughter Stephanie Biggs of Wallingford, Jenna Siladi, Brendan Siladi of Wellington, New Zealand and Maitê Siladi of Lake Mary, Florida. The youngest generation includes Stephanie’s two children, Brooklynn Grace Biggs and Kaden Jerome Mitchell-Biggs as well as Cedric Kyle Hendrickson, son of Maitê. Grace’s daughter, Dr. Katherine Harris, mother of Stephanie, passed away in 2019. Grace grew up in Stamford, graduating from Stamford High School with the class of 1957. After graduation, Grace moved to San Diego, CA where her daughter, Katherine and son, Mark were born. She returned to Milford, CT, crossing the country on Route 66 in a station wagon, with both kids in tow in 1961. Grace once again expanded her family and in July 1975 and married Edward D. Carroll (deceased), also of Milford. The blended family includes Morgan Carroll, Meredith Sweeney, Mary Carroll-Esposito, Robin Varon, Steven Carroll, Darrell Carroll, Warren Carroll and their respective children. Grace was a keen traveler, enjoying at least five continents with close friends as well as her daughter and granddaughter. She was an avid golfer, a member of Racebrook Country Club for years, occasionally beating her husband Edward, much to his chagrin. She worked both for Carroll Insurance Agency for many years and then as Executive Assistant at Yale New Haven Hospital. On top of this, and most importantly, she managed the very busy household. She carried the family recipe secrets in her head and taught many of the kids how to cook their favorite meals, cakes and cookies. Her latest prodigy was her great-grand daughter, Brooklynn. In recent times, she was also an avid movie-goer with many dear girlfriends. Grace was a loving, strong, funny, no-nonsense mother, friend and mentor. She warmly embraced her widespread family and life head on. Well loved by her friends and family, near and far, she will be missed dearly by all. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Quinnipiac University, Dr. Katherine Harris Professional Development Fund. A celebration of her life will be held in the future. Sisk Brothers Funeral Home 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Ct. 06518 is in charge of the arrangements. www.siskbrothers.com
