Gertrude Davenport Berube

April 7, 1938 - September 29, 2021

Gertrude Davenport Berube, a long time resident of Hamden, CT and most recently of Marietta, GA passed away in the presence of family on September 29, 2021. She was born in Springfield, MA on April 7, 1938 and grew up in Thompsonville, CT. Gert was predeceased by her husband Theodore R. Berube (son of Theodore A. and Helen Berube), her parents, Gertrude Lester and Alfred S. Davenport, her two brothers Stanley Davenport (Betsy), Richard Davenport (Loretta), and her Aunt Helen Reis. Anyone who knew Gert loved her. She married the love of her life on September 7, 1957, and they were together for 62 years. She is survived by her six children: Diane Levine (David), Mark Berube (Paula), Linda Ramirez (José), David Berube (Janette), Ted Berube (Cheryl), and Michael Berube (Darcie); grandchildren: Erik Williams (Mariel), Samuel Levine (Erin), Julia Levine, Mark Berube (Michelle), Karissa Schaefer (David), Kimberly Smith (Matthew), Heather Kennemore (William), Tara Borowiec (Thomas), Jake Rich (Samantha), Ashlynn Rich, David P. Berube, Autumn Berube, Wynter Berube, Tyler Berube, Brendan Berube, Savannah Nash, Grayson Berube; great grandchildren: Rye, Zea, Camila, Valerie, Cecilia, Michaela, Liam, Emmett, Karlyn, her beloved poodle Maxie, and several nieces and nephews. Gert was very active in her Catholic faith. At Ascension Church in Hamden she was parish secretary, a member of the Legion of Mary, the Ladies Guild, C.Y.O. instructor and a lector. After moving to The Villages in Florida, she was a lector at St. Mark the Evangelist R.C. Church in Summerfield, FL. Gert was active in sports. She loved playing Tennis at PCC in her earlier years and took up golf later. Her hole-in-one gave her great pride. The opportunity to play tennis, golf, or just throw a ball with family members always filled her heart with joy. She was an avid card and game player, and spent many afternoons and nights playing with those she loved. Her family is her legacy of which she was so proud. She was the pillar of her family, she touched many hearts and lives, and was loved by all. She will be greatly missed. Her Funeral will leave Sisk Brothers Funeral Home 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden Saturday (OCT. 16th) at 9:30 a.m., Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Church of the Ascension. Burial in All Saints Cemetery.
