Gerrard Keniry

December 31, 1928 - October 10, 2021

Gerrard Keniry, 92, of Hamden passed away peacefully on Oct. 10,2021 at the CT Hospice in Branford.. He was the husband of the late Mary Lillis Keniry. Survived by sons Cyril Keniry of New Haven, Martin (Irene) Keniry of North Haven and Gerry (Anne) Keniry of North Haven, a daughter Anne (Robert) Twohill of Mansfield, grandchildren Kimberly (Chris) Willis of Orange, Celia (Patrick) Waters of Woodbridge, Caitlin (Chris) Prisco of Scotland, Conor Keniry of Stamford and Jason Mansfield of North Haven, great grandchildren Aria and Christopher Prisco, Henry and Caroline Waters, Brady Willis, Cayden Winchell and Keira Mansfield and a sister Bridie Hastings of Birmingham, England. Also survived by his dear friend Eileen Hennessey of North Branford and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Mary Wilson, a grandson David Twohill and sisters Kitty Malloy and Leenie Davenport. Gerrard was born Dec. 31,1928 in Doonbeg, County Clare, Ireland a son of the late Martin and Kathleen Keniry and as a youth growing up in Ireland he had a love of all sports and was a good athlete. After coming to America he worked for many years at the Regional Water Authority retiring as a manager. He continued his love of sports and enjoyed, golf, bowling and Irish Football. He was an active member of the Irish American Community Center/New Haven Gaelic Football and Hurling Club in East Haven. He was very proud of his Irish heritage and made several trips back to his home country. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 12:00 (Noon) in Our Lady of MT Carmel Church, Whitney Ave., Hamden. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call prior to the mass Friday morning from 10:30-11:30 at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the IACC/NHGF&HC, 9 Venice PL, East Haven, CT 06512. www.siskbrothers.com
