May 21, 1926 - January 4, 2017

Elizabeth Ann (Stoudt) Day, born May 21, 1926 in Norwich, Connecticut, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017 in East Brunswick, New Jersey. She was the daughter of the late William and Clara (Kamp) Stoudt, beloved wife of Keegan V. Day Sr. who preceded her in death in October 2009, and the loving mother of William V. Day (Joanne) of North Haven, Marjorie Bonessi (Bruce) of Cheshire, Robert Day (Nancy) of Nantucket, Massachusetts, Kathleen Pietrocola of North Brunswick, New Jersey, and Keegan V. Day Jr. (Cathy) of Lebanon. Betty cared deeply for her 11 grandchildren Sara Overcash, Leah VanHorn, Kelsey Day, Stephen Day, Colleen Bonessi, Drew Bonessi, Megan Pietrocola, Michelle Pietrocola, Katelyn Pietrocola, Keegan V. Day III, Redmond Day and her first great grandchild Maya VanHorn. Her brother, William Ronald Stoudt, her sister, Marjorie Bahr of Cheshire, and her sister-in-laws, Rita Taft and Ellen Kochersperger, also preceded her in death. Betty attended Norwich Free Academy and was a proud graduate of the University of Connecticut. She received accolades as Class Actress from both schools. Betty went on to earn her Masters of Education at Southern Connecticut University. She was employed for many years as a Child Support Investigator for the State of Connecticut but was happiest at home raising her five children and orchestrating many lively family turkey dinners. Betty was a faithful member of St. Rita’s Church in Hamden supporting the soup kitchen and attending Prayer Groups. She was an active member of the Emmaus Christian Community for many years. She was also a beloved friend to many in her surrounding community. Her favorite Pennsylvania Dutch saying was “We get too soon oldt und too late schmart.” A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Saturday at 9 a.m. in St. Rita Church. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, 815 Boswell Ave. Norwich. Calling hours are Friday (Today) from 4 - 7 p.m. in Sisk Brothers Funeral Home 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to EWTN. (www.ewtn.com) providing Christian programs and the daily mass to those unable to attend.
