Demetria C. Johnson

March 24, 1925 - April 11, 2016

Demetria (Mete) Cecilia (Cammarano) Johnson entered into rest peacefully on April 11, 2016 following a short illness. Born in New Haven on March 24, 1925 daughter of the late Antonio and Mary Durso Cammarano. She was predeceased by her loving husband Douglas Johnson. Mom was very blessed in her life with so many wonderful friends that she had met and kept for many years from her jobs at the Girl Scouts of America and the Regional VNA of Hamden, her wonderful exercise groups, her friends from Albertus, and all of the wonderful neighbors on Colony St. who have watched over her all these years. She was a woman of great insight and compassion and a true friend to many. She is survived by her children Mary Ellen Allegrini (Michael) of Guilford, Beverly Garrity (Michael) of Branford, Doug Johnson (Tom True) of San Clemente, CA. and Brian Johnson (Laurie) of North Haven, her loving grandchildren all of whom adored her, Christine Hall (Brendan), Mark Allegrini (Sarah), Thomas Murphy, Colleen Murphy, and Giovanni True. Also 3 precious great grandchildren William Hall, Wesley Hall, Emilio Allegrini and baby Allegrini, her sister Marguerite Danick as well as loving nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Dr. Kaiser Toosey for helping her manage her pulmonary problems the last 6 years to insure a good quality of life, the family of In Care Home Hospice, Harry, Linda, Don, Tanja, Lois, Erin, and Dennis for all of the care and compassion that helped make for such a peaceful transition. We will be forever grateful. She loved afternoon lunch & tea with her granddaughter Colleen and playing words with friends with family. Mete enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family, including yearly trips to Cape Cod. Her love and her grace were remarkable of the many things everyone had loved about her. Her funeral will leave Sisk Brothers Funeral Home 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden Thursday at 10:30 a.m., Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers contributions to CT. Hospice 100 Double Beach Rd. Branford, CT. 096405.
