Barbara A. Sweeney Creegan, 83, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Jan. 20,2016 at the Shady Knoll Nursing Facility in Seymour. Wife of the late Walter Creegan. Mother of Catherine Greenleaf and husband Anthony of Lyme,NH, Maureen A. Creegan - Quinquis of Beverley,MA and Thomas Creegan of Hamden. Grandmother of Louis W. Quinquis of Beverley,MA. Sister of the late Charles Sweeney. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Born March 20,1932 in West Springfield ,MA, a daughter of the late Charles L. and Catherine G. Scully Sweeney, she was a graduate of the Elm City Beauty Academy in New Haven and had been employed for many years as a hair stylist for several area beauty salons including the salon at the former Taft Hotel,where she worked with a variety of theatrical performers. Barbara loved singing, dancing and gardening. Funeral from Sisk Brothers Funeral Home 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Tuesday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St., Rita Church, Hamden at 10:00. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 4 - 8 pm.
