Raeanna V. Curtis

Raeanne V. Curtis, 86 of Hamden, wife of beloved husband, Eric F. Curtis of 66 years passed away peacefully in Hamden on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. Raeanne was born at Grace New Haven Hospital on December 23, 1936 to the late Anthony Votto, Anna Kavanaugh, and stepfather, Arthur P. Kavanaugh. Raeanne was the eldest of three children, Fredrick Votto of Los Angeles (Edrienne) and Alice Caprio of North Haven (Salvatore Squeglia). Raeanne is also survived by her beloved daughter, Marianne B. Curtis of Wallingford who she loved dearly. Raeanne loved and cherished the memories she had of her predeceased Son, Eric F. Curtis III. Raeanne is survived by nieces Rebecca Bennett of New York New York (Matthew) Rachael Hoffman of Hoboken (Thomas), Marisa Ferrucci of North Haven (Timothy), Annie V. Caprio of North Haven, nephew, Nicholas Votto of Hawaii, great nieces, Isabella and Liliana Ferrucci. Raeanne was an amazing cook and baker who enjoyed entertaining friends and family over a meticulously well thought out dinner. She liked gathering together with people who she loved, admired, and cared for,often times spending the wee hours of the night discussing politics, laughing and reminiscing over days that have long passed. When Raeanne wasn’t entertaining family and friends she enjoyed attending the UCONN girls’ basketball games with her husband and daughter. She was happy to have attended ten final four basketball tournaments. Raeanne was a devoted Catholic who was regularly involved in her church community and later became a Eucharistic Minister. Along with her love for her family she was actively involved in City and State politics. A member of the City, State, and National Republican Party. Raeanne served as Chairman of the Republican Party in New Haven. She was involved in the league of woman voter of Hamden- North Haven. While working for the State of Connecticut Raeanne served as Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Transportation, Commissioner of the Department of Labor, Commissioner of Department of Public Works. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the church. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
