Lorraine A. Velardi

Lorraine Velardi, 85 of Hamden, CT passed away peacefully on January 27, 2023. Lorraine was the beloved wife of the late Leonard D. Velardi, loving mother of Theron Christian {Chris} Velardi of Hamden, and Grandmother of Taylor and Thor, whom she treasured. She is survived by her sister Marylin (Hank) O’Donnell of Hamden. She was predeceased by her brother Ken (and his wife Evelyn) Cavadini of Keene, NH. She leaves behind her stepchildren Lenny (Gail) Velardi of Melbourne, FL and his children Michael and David; Valerie Velardi of San Francisco and her son Zackery (Olivia) Williams, and grandson Mickey and granddaughter Zola, and her daughter Francesca; Leslie Velardi of Las Vegas and her son Dustin; Peter (Jen) Velardi of FL and his children Bobby (Kristen) Velardi and his grandchildren Gianna, Gemma; Tara, Blake and Nick (Jenna )Velardi; and Lorraine’s goddaughter Dawn Gogliettino, and her beloved dog Sophie. Lorraine was born in New Haven on October 1,1937 to the late Walter Anderson and Louise (Cavadini) Anderson. Lorraine took pride in being part of the first graduation class (1955) of North Haven High school. She continued her education at the University of Connecticut. She enjoyed working for National Lumber; after her marriage joined the family business The Only Game In Town. Lorraine was a longtime member of the Farms Country Club, where she created and wrote the club’s newsletter “The Horse’s Mouth “. She cherished her many great friends from the dining room, to the golf course and tennis courts (barefoot no less). Lorraine was well know for her her cowboy boots and hats. Her laughter which ranged from “ Yuck Yuck Yuck” to “Ack Ack Ack” was instantly identifiable. (her friends bought her Billy single “Movin’ Out”, precisely because the lyrics emulated her laugh.) She placed great value in friendship and caring, and she never forgot a birthday. Very few things were as important to her as, a cup of tea and some sweets with friends. Lorraine had a wonderful demeanor, and always had a kind word and smile to share with anyone. A dedicated Red Cross Blood Drive volunteer, lifetime member of the Sleeping Giant Association and member of the Wings Stock Club. She enjoyed weekly Mahjong with her many friends; and seemed to know everyone always. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, February 2nd from 3:00pm -7:00pm at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden, CT.
