Kathleen M. O'Donovan

Kathleen M. (Scott) O’Donovan, 84, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2024 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Kathleen was born in Killimor, Co. Galway, Ireland on February 16, 1940, daughter of the late Martin and Agnes Scott. She immigrated to Hartford, CT in 1967 and was employed by the Hartford Life Insurance Company. In 1971, Kathleen married the love of her life, John, which began a lifelong partnership and mutual devotion that everyone admired. Devoted Catholics, Kathleen and John settled in Hamden and dove headfirst into practicing the Gospel day in and day out. A calming, witty and kind presence in every situation, Kathleen was an active member of the Irish American Community Center and New Haven Gaelic Football and Hurling Club. She was a longtime member of the Gaelic Players and graced the stage for many productions over the years. Kathleen was also a longtime member and past president of the Pioneers of the Sacred Heart. A faithful companion and leader in her own right, Kathleen always took the time to chat with friends over a cup of tea and a slice of bread. Her encouraging and peaceful words always hit the right tone. Kathleen is survived by her brother Noel and his wife Eileen of Galway, her sister-in-law Eileen Scott of California and by several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, John, and brothers Valentine and Joseph Scott. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 26 at 11 am at St. Paul VI Parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, CT followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hamden. Those unable to attend may watch a livestream of the Mass at www.hamdencatholic.org/live. There will be no calling hours and friends and family are asked to go directly to the church.
