Helen D. De Roma

Helen Dufficy De Roma, 92 years of age, of Hamden passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025 with her family by her side. She was born in Mount Vernon, New York on June 27, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Timothy M. Dufficy, Sr. and Philomena Brudell Dufficy. Beloved wife of the late Joseph J. De Roma, Sr. for 64 1/2 years. Joe and Helen were high school sweethearts. At the time of Joe’s passing they had known each other seventy years. She missed Joe every day. Helen enjoyed a career in the banking industry for over 20 years. She was the Trust Officer at The Columbus Trust Company in Newburgh, New York which became Key Bank. Helen and Joe retired to Stuart, Florida where they resided for 22 years. In 2017 they relocated to Hamden to be near their children. Helen was a devoted wife and mother. Her family was always her pride and joy. She was happiest when spending time with her loved ones which included her extended family. She was an avid reader, loved houseplants and working in the garden and found such joy in decorating her home. Helen was a woman of faith and had a devotion to Saint Jude. Helen leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Jo-Ellen Wickwire of North Haven, her son Joseph De Roma, Jr. and his wife Sandi of Middlesex, North Carolina, grandson Shane Weymer and his wife Bryana, great grandchildren Shane, Jr., Averi Lee and Jackson Weymer of La Grange, North Carolina, her sister-in-law Carole Dufficy of Mendon, Massachusetts and many nieces and nephews. Helen was pre-deceased by her son-in-law Bill Wickwire and her five siblings: Maureen Kammerer, Kathleen Schafer, Dorothy Finger, Patricia Peabody and Timothy Dufficy, Jr. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, June 20 from 9:00–10:30 a.m. at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Her funeral procession will depart from Sisk Brothers at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rita Church in Hamden. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum in North Haven. The family would like to thank CT In-home Hospice for their compassionate and loving care of Helen during her final days.
