Erin Garrity

Erin Patrick Garrity was Born December 7th 1975 in Toledo 0hio. Son of Dennis and Sharon Garrity. He had two older brothers Mike and Brian as well as on younger brother Dan. In addition he had two younger sisters Meaghan and Kelly. He had three sister-in-laws Lori, Sara and Monica, five nephews Connor, Kevin, Griffen, Jack and Jacob. He had one niece Colleen. Shortly after he was born he moved with his family to Chicopee Massachusetts and then three years later to South Hadley Massachusetts. In 1982 he again moved with family to Rochester NY. 1985 he moved again with his family to Hamden, Ct. He attended West Woods grammer school, Hamden Middle and Hamden High School. He was an Eagle Scout in troop 604 and a Vigil member of the 0rder of the Arrow a society of honor campers in the Boy Scouts of America. He had aspired to become a Marine at one point in his life and I'm sure he would have made a great one. He has always shown a willingness to serve others not only in Boy Scouts but in his everyday life. He continued his education at Gateway Community College and it was there that he became interested in becoming an EMT. (Emergency Medical Technician). After passing the tests and becoming an EMT he took the next step and advanced his abilities and became ant EMT instructor and joined the statewide EMT association. 0n 9/11/2001 he responded to the call for help and was assigned to the train station in New Haven, Conn. He not only treated those that were fleeing New York City he gave them comfort. He injured himself by, doing more than he should have and had to stop working as an EMT but he continued teaching others in a field he loved. He also workd at Bar-Plate Mfg. Co. up until January of this year when he moved to 0keechobee, Florida to be with Cathy Disney the love of his life. He was a Loving Son, Brother Uncle and Friend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at l0:00 am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 pm in Sisk Brothers Funeral Home 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden.
