In Plantsville, Oct. 25, 2010, Christine M. O'Neill Cashman, 91, of Hamden. Wife of the late John P. Cashman. Beloved mother of Joan C. Mazur and husband John of Havertown, PA, Patricia A. Cashman of East Haven, Mary L. Cashman of Vernon and Christine M. Wilmes and special friend James Bouvier of Plantsville. Grandmother of Corinne M. Bowen and husband William, Justin F. Mazur and wife Heather, Nathan C. Wilmes, Geoffrey J. Mazur and wife Helen, Daniel B, Smolin and wife Natsuko, Joshua D, Wilmes, Amy K. Smolin and Jesse D. Smolin and wife Rachel. Great grandmother of Grace A. Bowen, Cyrus J. Bowen, Timothy R. Mazur, Thomas L. Mazur, Walter G. Bowen and Marianna E. Mazur Sister of the late Mary Roehl, Hannah Keegan, Eileen Condron Hyland, Margaret Murray, Edward L O'Neill, M. Frank O'Neill and John J. O'Neill. Mother in law of the late Gregory Wilmes. Also survived by nieces and nephews and their children, Born Dec., 10, 1918 in County Kerry, Ireland, daughter of the late John J, and Nora Foley O'Neill, she was a graduate of Hillhouse High School in New Haven and then graduated from the Hospital of St. Raphael School of Nursing, She then graduated from the obstetric nurses training program at the Margaret Hague Hospital in NYC and worked for a time at the Grace-New Haven Hospital. During WWII she served as a nurse with the US Army in the European Theater. She then worked for many years as an industrial nurse at Geometric Tool Co. in New Haven. Christine was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Hamden, was a member of the Irish Round Table, the American Legion and the Hospital of St. Rapahel School of Nursing Alumni Assoc, She was an active member of the Dunbar-Davenport Residences Volunteer Assoc. Funeral from Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Saturday morning at 9:30, Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Sacrament Church at 10, Burial with military honors will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Friends may call Friday from 4-8 pm.
