Adelyn DeLise Walsh

In Woodbridge, January 26, 2021 Adelyn "Addie" DeLise Walsh 98, formerly of Hamden. Beloved wife of the late Edward J. Walsh. Loving mother of Atty. Edward Walsh (Elizabeth) of New Haven. Also survived by her cherished grandson Matthew D. Walsh (Lina), great grandchildren Bennett and Emmy Walsh and nieces and nephews Patricia, Barbara-Jane, Andrea, Bobby, Janis and Susan, and former daughter in law Jean Welty (Jim Cole). She was predeceased by a brother Jerry DeLise, sisters Rose M. Warren, Phyllis Dame and a nephew Wayne. Adelyn was born in New Haven December 27, 1922 daughter of the late Andrew and Michelena Pascale DeLise. Addie graduated from Hillhouse High School in 1940 where she was editor of the school newspaper. She was always passionate about reading and education and was finally able to pursue a life-long dream of attending college in her 60’s at Albertus Magnus and Quinnipiac University. Her working career path included enriching stints working for Congressman Robert Giaimo, the Internal Revenue Service and as a court monitor for the State of Connecticut Superior Court. One of her greatest loves was working with young children and for many years she enjoyed teaching Sunday religious classes to the young ones at 0ur Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Addy was a lifelong swimmer for both pleasure and exercise which kept her in great shape and undoubtedly help sustain her to the ripe age of 98. She loved traveling with her husband to Florida for the winters where she would swim in the ocean and sunbathe on the beach all day long, without any sunscreen of course. Her Italian skin needed no help bronzing to perfection. She also loved her many travels overseas especially to France, Italy, Ireland and Hawaii. Addie will be greatly missed by her family and they are most grateful to Tina Wilson and Flora Osinaike who cared for and loved Addie for the past few years. They also want to specially thank the entire Atria Larson Place Community, where Addie resided for many years, for their superior care and compassion. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Burial will be private.
