Joseph Gross

Joseph Gross, 87, formerly of North Haven died peacefully January 25 at Elim Park Place, Cheshire, CT. He was born on the family farm in Branford, CT on February 10, 1925, son of John and Lena Novak Gross. He was the husband of Virginia (Ginny) Hauser Gross, and celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on Jan.21. He is survived by his son, Martin (Denise) Gross of Stratford CT his daughter Geraldine (Gerri) Gross of Arlington, MA and his two cherished grandchildren, Katie Gross of Derby CT and Gregory Gross of Milford CT. Also survived by brother Walter (Pauline) Gross of Ronan, MT and sister Helen (John) Kuhn of Ashlar Village ,Wallingford, CT and 7 nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by brothers Samuel, Frank, Charles, Casimir, Alex and sisters Stella Kaliscak, Anna Struzynski, and Jennie Gross. Joseph retired as a foreman from Pratt & Whitney after 35 years , and from the North Haven Post Office as a part time employee after 21 years. He volunteered for 10 years, producing vegetables for the Connecticut Food Bank with Bill Liddell. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Friends may visit at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Avenue, Hamden on Tuesday from 4 - 7 PM. A mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St.Thomas Becket in Cheshire at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, followed by internment at All Saints Cemetery.
