Margaret Alice Delehanty

In Stratford, December 19, 2012 Margaret Alice Delehanty 86. Alice grew up and lived in West Haven for most of her life before moving to Hamden. She is survived by nephews Arthur F. Keating and his wife Jeanne of Shelton and Thomas Keating and his wife Paula of Seymour, cousins Robert Shannon of Stratford and John Shalvoy of Fairfield, as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews and special traveling companion, Arleen Olesky. Predeceased by her sister Mary I. Keating and brother in law Arthur D. Keating. Alice spent 40 years in the West Haven School System as a teacher and a guidance counselor at Bailey Jr. High, West Haven High School and Gionotti. She was a member of New Haven Women's Club, the Ten Pus 5 Club (which is a group of women with ties to Washington School in West Haven), volunteered at the Hospital of St. Raphael and the Shubert Theater. Alice was a devout Catholic who attended Mass on a daily basis and even during her illness watched Mass on television and said her daily prayers. She loved to travel and chaperoned many of West Havens High School trips. In her retirement years she enjoyed the winter months in Florida and was an avid New York Yankee and UCONN Women's Basketball fan. She was a graduate of West Haven High School, Albertus Magnus College, Cum Laude and received her Master's and 6th year degree from Fairfield University. Funeral from Sisk Brothers Funeral Home 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden Saturday at 10am, Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Burial in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
