Nora T. Beattie

Beattie, Nora T. (Hannigan) of North Haven, CT. on November 23, 2012 peacefully at Woodbriar of Wilmington, MA after a long illness. Born August 26, 1921, in Donegal, Ireland, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Hannigan. Beloved wife of the late Charles D. Beattie. Loving mother of Elizabeth Noonan of Boise, Idaho, Kathleen Neal and her husband Frederick of Lynnfield, MA and Charlotte Beattie of Arlington, MA. Devoted grandmother to Peter and Lisa Neal and Katy Noonan. Dear sister to Margaret Symoens of West Haven and the late Katherine Hannigan, the late Grace MacFarlane and the late Elizabeth Reid. Adored and remembered by many extended family and friends. A registered nurse, Nora was a graduate of Saint Raphael's Hospital School of Nursing, New Haven and was co-founder, with her long time friend, Virginia Young, of the Nurse Placement Service, a registry for private duty nurses. A devoted nurse, Nora served for twenty-six years as a visiting nurse with the VNA of Wallingford. Nora was loved and respected by patients, their family members and colleagues alike. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Nora's memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163-4777 or to Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island, One Bullfinch Place, Boston, MA 02114. Funeral from Sisk Brothers Funeral Home 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden, Tuesday at 9:30 am, Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Ave. North Haven. Burial in All Saints Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 8:30 - 9:30 am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. www.siskbrothers.com
